Folkestone TriennialCMS development for a contemporary art festival

The Creative Foundation needed a dynamic website for the first edition of the Folkestone Triennial – a contemporary art festival that sought to revive a seaside resort on the south coast of England. The main requirement was to create a site that the organisers could easily coordinate with their press events, manage content and list upcoming events.

Special attention was given to the events section (fig. iv). Each listing required its own booking form and map location, besides all the usual event information.

We launched in February when the first PR event took place.  Over the following months, the organisers added the artists’ works (Fig. iii) which where then revealed, to much fanfare, at the Triennial’s launch in mid June.

We collaborated with the talented folks at Graphic Thought Facility who created the branding and developed the design template. Dan Porter and Hugh Williams created the clever Photo Map area (Fig. v). Campaign Monitor manages the newsletter subscription list and mailshot delivery.

Testimonial

I am really impressed with the service we have had from Seb. The website is great and he has been really creative when designing solutions to the various challenges we have put before him. He has come up with some really helpful proactive suggestions and has made a real effort to understand our overall marketing needs and priorities. He is also very patient and good humoured – a pleasure to work with.
